New woodland garden
Volunteers have been clearing and replanting the woodland garden under the shade of the alder tree at the end of the prairie. The new plants have been grown from seed by expert Friends Peter and Trish Kohn, who sowed almost a hundred different species of North American plants. The area is intended to be varied in colour and height and will include Aruncus dioicus (goat’s beard), Eupatorium maculatum ‘Atropurpurem’ (Joe-Pye weed) and Veronicastrum virginicum (Culver’s root) among many other woodland plants.
To learn more about the new woodland garden, see the feature in The Review (the new name for our Newsletter), which will be distributed to Friends during November.
