Education Volunteers Needed!

Laura Alston, our new Education Co-ordinator, is putting together a team of Education Volunteers for the Gardens. These volunteers will help with setting up and delivering a programme of curriculum-based activities. This will include working with classes and groups of school pupils and teachers and leading activities for school groups at the Gardens. The activities will all be pre-prepared and instructions and an induction will be provided to the volunteers. Any volunteers who would also like to help with planning activities for the programme would also be very welcome.

School visits are likely to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so availability for these days would be ideal, but you wouldn’t have to help every week.

As the Education Project progresses, there will also be opportunities to volunteer in other areas including:

  • Developing in-house horticulture workshops

  • Working with community groups

  • Helping out on events

  • Supporting the creation of trails, exhibitions and other forms of interpretation

All these opportunities might involve some training possibilities as well.

If you would like to get involved with the Education and Engagement Project as an Education Volunteer (or in any aspect of the project) then please get in touch with Laura by email at laura.alston@sheffield.gov.uk.
