We are very fortunate in Sheffield with more than 100,000 trees in parks and open spaces; we have 80 ancient woodlands and 180 woods, making Sheffield the most wooded and treed city in Britain. In this talk, our speaker, Catherine Nuttgens will look at the past and future challenges of managing and protecting this important resource, particularly in the face of the changing climate.
Catherine Nuttgens is currently the Urban Programme Lead for the Woodland Trust. She worked as a Tree Officer for Sheffield City Council for a number of years, and also as Community Forestry Manager where she lead the community tree planting team. She has a project management background connecting people to nature and landscape; as well as working in arboriculture in the urban environment.
Catherine’s projects have included themes such as landscape heritage, ancient woodland, art and crafts, outdoor play and forest schools.
