This talk and all our lectures are FREE for Friends of the Botanical Gardens to attend. Members of the public are also welcome to join us on payment of £5 at the door on the day. Live talks are held in the Education Centre in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens - easily accessed via the Thompson Road Entrance.
For this talk Ryan Sandford-Blackburn will explore the world of perennial edibles - taking us on a journey of discovery into an array of plants we can grow and eat, including a reminder of motivations to grow our own. Expect to learn of a new plant or recipe!
Ryan Sandford-Blackburn is a director of Earthed Up! - an agroecological plant nursery based in Belper, Derbyshire. Focusing on edible and useful plants, they grow all their own plants for sale, peat free and without harmful chemicals.
Ryan is an experienced grower, educator, and permaculture designer; he has particular interest in growing plants for agroforestry systems, in living soil. Ryan previously worked at the Permaculture Association as strategic communications coordinator for 8 years.
