Rod Weston ‘Composting for Enthusiasts’ live lecture

This talk and all our lectures are FREE for Friends of the Botanical Gardens to attend. Members of the public are also welcome to join us on payment of £5 at the door on the day. Live talks are held in the Education Centre in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens - easily accessed via the Thompson Road Entrance.

There are many reasons to start a compost heap in your garden or allotment - saving money on shop bought compost, reducing your carbon footprint, promoting soil health and in this talk, Master Composter Rod Weston will provide hints and tips on composting successfully.

In ‘Composting for Enthusiasts’, Rod will  look at a range of composting methods using mid and higher range bins, including wormeries,  hot composting garden waste using pallets and other wooden bins as well as composting cooked food using  Bokashi indoor anaerobic  systems.

Rod is a home composter and runs a community composting and demonstration site providing a service to 60+ allotment plots in Leicester.  He is an active member of the National Allotment Society and is Garden Organics Leicestershire Master Composter offering talks across the Midlands promoting composting. He runs the website and blog  Carry on Composting which gets 6,000 -10,000 visits a week!
