Plants, Gardens, People - a life in horticulture
Reviewing almost fifty years as a gardener, John Grimshaw talks about plants that have interested him in gardens and in the wild, people who have inspired him and gardens that he has enjoyed and made, covering everything from alpines to trees.
John Grimshaw started gardening in Sheffield aged about four and plants have dominated his life ever since.
A degree in Botany and doctorate in African forest ecology from Oxford have led to a diverse career in commercial, private and public horticulture, as well as authorship of several books and many articles.
He is currently Director of the Yorkshire Arboretum near Castle Howard, North Yorkshire, and has his own home and garden nearby.
