David Thornton ‘Growing Better Veg this Season’ live lecture

In this talk, experienced vegetable grower David Thornton aims to help you get the best out of your plot - whatever that entails. By looking at the soil, pest and disease control, the best performing varieties, timings and storage of the produce he will give examples and suggest ways maximise the results of your hard work in the vegetable garden. As every season is different, so we have to be adaptable and change our methods accordingly.

David is a keen exhibitor as well as growing for the kitchen, he is the current UK Champion for a Collection of Six types of vegetables, a title he collected last September at the National Championships held in Shrewsbury.

He is the former General Secretary of the National Vegetable Society and so brings a wealth of practical knowledge on growing vegetables successfully.

David is also the owner of Select Seeds, a seed business that specialises in making current commercial varieties available to the allotment and kitchen gardener in small pack. He will be bringing some seeds to sell at our meeting.

National Vegetable Society website - lots of great tips and general information about veg culture.
